HOUSE OF PRAYER

Our History

God who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit...
Romans 8:27

Heart of God was in the imagination of Sister Jean Kasparbauer, FSPA, Sister Marlou Ricke, FSPA, and Fr. Timothy Corbley since 1982. They and other members envisioned a place where men and women could gather for prayer and spiritual growth. In the early years, none of the members knew how the dream

would take shape; however, over time, God's Spirit continued to guide them.

Through prayer, reflection, and listening to intuitive hunches, they were
faithful to

their call and vision. In July of 2003, the core members of Heart of God gathered

and made a commitment to put flesh on the dream and call of God in their hearts.

Thus, Heart of God found its first home in St. Louis, Missouri and in March 2004

moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. In that same year, members of Heart of God

attained a not-for-profit status for Heart of God and moved to its present location.

Since then, Sister Jean and Sister Marlou have retired from full time ministry. Fr. Timothy, Gene, Ellen, Lisa, Deb, Sharon and a committed group of volunteers continue the dynamic ministry at Heart of God.

In 2008, Heart of God expanded its ministry by purchasing a house of prayer in Cascade, Colorado. We expanded our ministry to include a house of prayer to provide spiritual direction, prayer groups, spiritual direction groups and liturgies to persons who live closer to Colorado Springs. It is our hope and deepest desire to continue to listen to the call of God and expand the opportunities and ministry at Heart of God.
